“This may be the first
documentary that records the full process of a grass-root organization in
the rural China. The whole documentary was shot impromptu, with follow-up
snapshot of the grass-root association. It records the true process of the
democratic election at a cooperative in a village called Zhaicheng, Hebei
province. This documentary, with its true, critical and insightful
perspective, reflects the image of the Chinese culture.” –
the Phoenix Satellite Television program ad. (PHT is a Hong Kong-based TV station, most popular among Chinese TV
viewers.) In late 1995, this documentary was shown on the Phoenix TV
as a five-part TV documentary series, with each part 30 minutes long shown
at prime time. This TV documentary is an abridged digest from a 52 hours of
DV shot. The full series of this story with English narration is being
produced. We expect to cooperate with media agency interested in
obtaining this documentary. Please write to hou1891@hotmail.com
